Borrow Someone Else's Perspective
Often, it is easier to give advice than to solve one’s own challenges. When we’re dealing with our own problems, it’s easy to overthink. Fear, doubt, and emotions can make even a simple decision feel impossible.
One way to clear the fog is to imagine how your closest friend would handle the same situation. They aren’t carrying your stress, so they might see things more clearly. What would you advise someone, given your situation?
For example, imagine you’ve been putting off applying for a new job because you’re afraid you won’t get it. Now imagine your best friend was in the same position. Would you tell them, “Don’t even try”? Probably not. You’d likely say, “Go for it. You never know unless you apply.”
Sometimes it’s easier to recognize good advice when you’re looking at the situation from someone else’s point of view.
